Our client is an award-winning university spin off company that has developed and patented a range of cell lines and highthroughput screening platforms combining synthetic & stem cell biology. Their technology, widely used in academia and industry, is pivotal in the drive towards understanding and curing a range of diseases, including neurodegenerative diseases such as Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s and Huntingdon’s Disease which affect millions of people globally.

As Director of Product Development, you will take overall responsibility for the development and delivery of the company’s engineered cell lines, used by researchers around the world.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Developing and executing product strategy and driving new product introduction
  • Managing the life cycle of the product line including positioning, competitive intelligence
  • Managing and supervising a small team of product managers, applications scientists and marketers
  • Take responsibility for product line Profit & Loss
  • Work with the research & development department to ensure development of new products in line with market expectation and requirements

To be considered for this role, you will have the following experience:

  • Life Science background with a minimum BSc in Biology, Life Science or equivalent
  • Extensive experience of developing and launching products (reagents, cells, consumables, instruments) in the Life Science industry
  • An understanding of sales & product marketing and how to leverage effective strategies to improve product revenue
  • Experience of managing small teams of scientists, marketers, and/or product managers
  • Excellent communication skills and an ability to communicate and collaborate across multidisciplinary teams

This role is based at the company HQ near Cambridge with the option to work from home max. 2 days per week.

There is also a requirement to travel up 25% of your time to effectively collaborate with and support linked business units and customers.

You will be rewarded with a very competitive base salary and a generous OTE scheme (20%). Our client offers a vibrant and dynamic working environment in an exciting, fast-moving time for biology.
