About this job

We're partnering with an innovative advanced materials manufacturer to recruit an experienced R&D Chemist to join their growing research team.

If you have industrial experience developing epoxy or thermosetting resin systems and enjoy solving formulation challenges from concept through to manufacturing, this is an opportunity to work on products used in aerospace, defence, motorsport, renewable energy and other high-performance industries.

What you'll be doing

As part of an established R&D team, you'll lead formulation projects focused on epoxy resin systems, using your expertise to develop new products, improve existing technologies and support manufacturing scale-up.

Responsibilities

  • Developing and optimising epoxy-based thermoset resin formulations
  • Designing, planning and delivering experimental programmes
  • Investigating curing behaviour, kinetics and structure-property relationships
  • Supporting pilot plant trials and manufacturing scale-up
  • Troubleshooting technical and processing challenges
  • Collaborating with production, quality, commercial and project teams to deliver innovative solutions

Candidate Profile:

  • PhD in Organic Chemistry, Polymer Chemistry, Materials Chemistry or a related discipline
  • Several years of industrial experience developing thermosetting resin systems (epoxy preferred)
  • Background in composites, adhesives, coatings or formulated polymer products
  • Strong understanding of polymer chemistry, curing mechanisms and material characterisation
  • Experience with techniques such as DSC, DMA, rheology, spectroscopy or chromatography
  • A practical, hands-on scientist who enjoys solving complex technical problems

Why join?

This is a fantastic opportunity to join a business investing heavily in innovation and product development. You'll work alongside experienced scientists on technically challenging projects where your ideas can genuinely influence the next generation of high-performance composite materials.
