Are you an expert in analytical chemistry with a passion for method development? We’re seeking a Senior Analytical Chemist/Technical Expert to join our Utrecht laboratory, leading cutting-edge method development and validation to support regulatory compliance, product innovation, and quality assurance in the nicotine and tobacco sector.

In this role, you will:

  • Develop, optimise, and validate methods for nicotine, TSNAs, carbonyls, metals, VOCs, PAHs, and other HPHCs.
  • Work hands-on with advanced instrumentation, including GC-MS, LC-MS/MS, HPLC, ICP-MS, and more.
  • Lead method transfer, validation, troubleshooting, and training across internal and external labs.
  • Ensure methods meet FDA, Health Canada, CORESTA, and ISO requirements, supporting regulatory submissions such as PMTA and MRTP.
  • Collaborate with R&D, Regulatory Affairs, and Quality teams to enable product compliance and innovation.
  • Author technical documentation including validation protocols, reports, SOPs, and submission-ready packages.
  • We’re seeking someone with:

  • A Ph.D. in Analytical Chemistry with 5+ years’ experience, or BSc/MSc with 8–10 years in an industrial lab.
  • Demonstrated expertise in analytical method development for tobacco or nicotine-containing products would be a strong advantage, other complex/dirty matrices with small molecules experience are welcomed.
  • Knowledge of FDA regulations, HPHC reporting, and ISO 17025 / GLP environments would be a plus.
  • Proficiency with data analysis tools and software such as Empower, MassHunter, Chromeleon, or ChemStation.
  • Experience supporting regulatory submissions (PMTA/MRTP) is a strong plus.
