Cargo Inspector – Petrochemical

VRS8259DM

  • South East
  • £23,500-£30,000
  • Non-Laboratory & Other Scientific Roles

About this job

Modern civilisation is built around oil and the products we can produce from it. Here in the UK, the majority of our oil is imported, and the products exported, from several ports around our coast including Liverpool, Milford Haven, Immingham and Southampton.

Our client operates in these ports, offering testing and sampling services to the refineries. This ensures the quality, quantity and useability of the ships cargo before being offloaded, and whilst in storage. They are currently searching for suitable candidates to join their team as Inspectors at their facility in Southampton.

You will be going on-board tanker vessels that dock at the jetty, taking samples of their cargo for testing, and assisting with the unloading of that cargo. You will also be sampling and testing oil and other products that are stored in the ports main storage tanks. Once products are ready to be exported, you will be assisting with that process.

This role is offered on a full time, permanent basis and full training will be provided. Those with previous experience in a marine environment are at an advantage, as are those who have served in the Navy.

During your initial training, your working hours will be 9-5. Once you are competent in the work and signed off allowing you to work independently, you will be inducted into a 2 day, 2 night, 4 off shift pattern.

This is an excellent opportunity to join a scientific organisation, without the need for a scientific qualification, whilst working outdoors in an active role. This role is vital to the smooth operation of Heathrow, Gatwick and Stanstead Airports, as well as other main UK infrastructure – you will be making a difference!

Candidates are encouraged to apply who:

  • Are IT Literate
  • Have at least GCSE maths
  • Are physically fit and able to work at height or in confined spaces
  • Have a full manual UK Drivers License.

This role is open to both potential trainee, and experienced Cargo inspectors. Dan, one of our experienced consultants, will guide you through the entire process, from initial application, to interview, to signing your contract!
