High-performance gas sensors are essential for industrial gas detection monitors, ensuring that safety standards are met, and air quality is suitable for health and environment. Our client provides high-quality oxygen, CO­₂, toxic, and flammable gas sensors to a huge range of manufacturers throughout the UK.

There is an opening for a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to work with scientists to produce new and innovative sensor designs, considering ease of manufacture, assembly and quality. This is a hands-on role, involving fixture adjustment and quality checking of finished sensors. If you are an innovative and skilled engineer with a keen interest in problem solving, this is an opportunity to make a real impact in a small, dynamic team.

Candidate requirements:

• Degree in Mechanical Engineering / Design or equivalent
• Ideally experience designing medical devices, sensors, or gas products
• Minimum 5 years’ experience in a design role (developing products for mass production)
• 3D design & 2D technical drawing/detailing (preferably using Autodesk Inventor/AutoCad)
• Hands-on approach to R&D and problem solving
• Good working knowledge of workshop machines - Drills, Mills, Lathes etc
• Time spent as a production engineer, quality engineer and manufacturing engineer would be beneficial
