Our client is a specialist national organisation that brings together leading UK scientists and industry to accelerate innovative drug discovery projects. They provide unique scientific capabilities to support and drive the discovery of new medicines and diagnostics.

They are seeking a motivated Lead Scientist to oversee the Advanced Microscopy Team which provides a central and supportive role for other functions within their growing team. In this role, you will bring a depth of expertise in advanced light microscopy and image analysis to characterise drug delivery systems, cellular targets, complex disease models, and ex vivo and clinical tissue analysis techniques. You will lead a small team of microscopists and work closely with colleagues in interdisciplinary projects to provide scientific input and deliver impactful data, providing microscopy solutions to drug discovery questions.

The ideal candidate will:

  • Possess a PhD in Advanced Light Microscopy with extensive experience in research applications
  • Have experience of line management of small teams and cross departmental collaborations
  • Have experience in a range of microscopy methodologies including confocal, super resolution, multiphoton, high content imaging applied to biological samples
  • Have demonstrated experience of image analysis using open-source software
