Bioprocess Sciences play a crucial part in the development and manufacture of pharmaceutical drugs. Living cells (mammalian or bacterial) and/or their components are used to obtain desired products including protein therapeutics, such as antibodies.
We are currently recruiting for a global pharmaceutical organisation seeking a Research Scientist to join their Upstream Process Sciences team. This position is offered initially on a 12-month contract with realistic opportunity to be extended.
In this role you will utilise your background/ knowledge in cell culture/ biochemical engineering to aid process development for projects in the early stages of clinical development. You will be predominantly lab-based working with bioreactors from bench sale (250ml) to pilot scale (200L). Due to the company’s research focus, you will contribute to scientific & technological development to improve USP & primary recovery processes.
This business is for you if you possess-
- BSc/ MSc in Biological Science/ Biomedical Engineering or related
- Theoretical understanding of cell culture systems ideally within an industrial environment
- Experience using various bioreactor systems at bench/ pilot scale
- Demonstrable problem-solving skills with a proven aptitude for lab work
