An exciting opportunity has arisen within a large global contract research organisation for a Business Development Head!
Within this senior role, you will drive a dedicated team responsible for the marketing and promotion of clinical research collaborations. Examples of clinical research areas covered are dementia, diabetes, COPD etc. As a Business Development Head you will play a key role in communications between private and public sector life-science research leaders – promoting those of greatest benefit to public health.
You will be involved in the positioning, strategy, and engagement with industry and academic leaders to ensure (and maintain) a high class translational medicine and clinical research capability. To deliver this, you will contribute and compile portfolios comprising of market intelligence, research infrastructure and analyses; and be highly instrumental arranging meetings and briefing requests.
Other duties involve networking, building relationships between various institutions, boards and organisations. You goal is to bridge the culture and practices in the public and private sectors – ultimately enabling and securing government funded research opportunities to be managed via private sector. Therefore, exceptional levels of influencing, diplomacy, enthusiasm and integrity is required for this unique role.
The ideal candidate will have previous experience of:-
- People management and working to strict/tight deadlines
- Project handling/management - ideally with complex/large organisations
- Biomedical science/clinical research
- Negotiating, sales or business development
Other experience relevant but not essential would be an understanding of how clinical research is conducted within the NHS, a PhD from a related background or proven track record in scientific network event management.
